13Us Finish 5th at The TCS Summer Nationals

Posted by admin on July 23, 2015 at 9:22 PM

The summer is all about spending time with your friends, hitting the beach and soaking up the sun, but for the 2015 Team Mizuno Northeast 13U team members – it’s all about baseball. Over the July 13th week, TMNE sent two 13U groups down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to compete in the 64 team national tournament that saw teams from all over the country. While teams battled it out in a competitive bracket styled pool play round, both groups were enjoying their first glance at participating in a nationally sanctioned tournament.

After pool play and winning their bracket which included a team from Kentucky (Vipers Baseball), North Carolina (Diamond Baseball) and South Carolina (Myrtle Beach Pelicans), the 13U NEBA squad were among the top 16 teams who would play for the national championship.  The defeated the GA Prospects (3 seed) and the Central Florida Pride (11 seed) before falling to Team Connecticut Baseball (TCB) in the quarterfinals.  They were then eliminated from the tournament by the Connecticut Edge (2 seed).  TCB and Connecticutt Edge then met in the finals where TCB prevailed, beating CT Edge 11-4 in the championship game.

The 13U NEBA group went 5-3 overall – finishing 5th overall in the 64 team tournament.  2016 Team Mizuno Northeast tryouts are set for August 1st and 2nd for ages 13U & 14U and August 8th and 9th for ages 9U-12U.  For more info on tryouts, please click here.  All players must preregister for to attend tryouts.  Registration deadline is Friday, July 24th.

9U Team Loses in NEAAU Semis

2015 9U Squad has a Strong Season - Loses in NEAAU Semi-Finals to Blackstone Valley Spinners

Team Mizuno Northeast fielded several strong rosters this past season. None were more focused and dedicated to developing as young baseball players as the 2015 9U TMNE squad. The roster was made up mostly of 8s and 9s who battled all season long despite much game experience at a competitive level. While many 9U programs in the northeast are actively recruited pitting young baseball players against each other to make team rosters, the TMNE 9U (and 10U) program is structured to give all players willing to put in the hard work and effort and opportunity to learn the game before having to concern themselves with being told. “you’re not good enough.”
